Republican Wes Allen announces 2022 candidacy for secretary of state

Allen made the announcement in front of the State House, with a crowd of family, friends, fellow legislators and local elected officials from Pike County behind him.
He is currently serving his first term in the House of Representatives after being elected in 2018. Allen previously served as the probate judge of Pike County for nearly a decade, a position through which he was responsible for managing the county’s elections.

Alabama Senate passes bill banning transgender treatments for minors

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Alabama Senate has passed a bill aimed at preventing minors from getting medications or treatments to change their genders.
Senate Bill 10, called the Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, passed 23-4 Tuesday afternoon. It now goes to the House.

Committee approves bill to ban transgender treatments for minors in Alabama

A bill to prohibit the use of puberty-blocking medications, hormones, and surgeries as transgender therapies for minors won approval today in the Alabama House Judiciary Committee.

The Alabama Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, by Rep. Wes Allen, R-Troy, was approved by a vote of 11-3 and moves into position for a vote by the House.
